What TLD / SLD / ccTLD / ccSLD stand for?

TLD stands for Top-Level-Domain and is the last part of the domain name.

SLD refers to Second-Level-Domain and is the word before the TLD.

In other words for "my-domain.com", TLD is .com, SLD is the word "my-domain".

ccTLD is Country-Code Top-Level-Domain e.g. .us, .eu etc.

ccSLD is Country-Code Second Level-Domain, examples are .co.uk, .org.uk etc.

gTLD is Generic Top-Level-Domain categories of TLD, examples .com, .net, .org, .biz etc.

In order to stress on every specific detail you have to know when registering and holding a domain name, we have prepared the table below. It is a brief summary of all domain name extensions we offer and their specific distinguishing features.

  This is the maximum period a domain name can be registered/renewed at once. Max. Reg. Period Some domain names require additional details for registration. Addiotonal details Shows if transfer from one registrar to another is allowed. Transfer Allowed EPP Key is domain trabsfer authorization key, required for transferring of a domain name from one registrar ro another. Some domains does not require EPP for transfers. EPP Key For security an option to lock/unlock a domain is available. This prevents a domain from unauthorized transfer theft. However this option is not applicable for all domains. Registrar Lock Fefers to Domain Privacy Protection. This is a service that hides your domain's WHOIS details and replaces them with generic one. Some domains are not applicable for this service. WHOIS Protect Certain domain names, like .JP can only be renewed via the auto-renew process. Therefore, these domains can only be renewed 30 days before expiration and prior to their renewal(expiration) date. If the renewal date has passed and a domain is not renewed no modifications will be allowed for this domain and this domain will continue to resolve until deleted by the registry. Default Auto-renew Based on registry restrictions some domain extensions are not allowed to change / edit the WHOIS details. IMPORTANT: .UK registration is not instant and needs approval by the .UK registry - Nominet. No exact period is specified for approval/rejection of domain registration request.
